The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2026 opened today in Las Vegas, highlighting major advancements in the electric vehicle (EV) industry. Key announcements included the launch of new EV charging infrastructure from Autel Energy and a partnership between ProLogium and Darfon Energy Tech to introduce innovative solid-state battery solutions.
Autel Energy unveiled its latest AC and DC charging solutions, featuring the Avant family of products. Designed for fleet depots, logistics hubs, and autonomous vehicle operations, the Avant line emphasizes touch-free, automated charging, routine diagnostics, and preventative maintenance. These products support open standards such as OCPP and ISO 15118, allowing customers to select their preferred charging management software while ensuring high uptime and performance.
Shane Long, CTO at Autel Energy, stated, "The industry no longer needs more proprietary silos. What customers are asking for is choice, reliability, and infrastructure that supports their business goals, with a clear path to scale and automation." The company’s platform-agnostic approach enables seamless integration with third-party energy management and battery storage solutions. Michelle Luo, CRO at Autel Energy, added, "Electrification is no longer experimental - it's operational. Our focus is on helping customers deploy infrastructure that works today and adapts tomorrow, without forcing them into proprietary lock-in." Autel also highlighted its intelligent load management, demand-response readiness, and energy integration capabilities.
ProLogium and Darfon Energy Tech announced a collaboration to launch a new solid-state battery solution for electric bicycles (e-bikes) and light electric vehicles (LEVs). ProLogium will supply its fourth-generation superfluidized all-inorganic solid-state cells and a scalable manufacturing platform, while Darfon will contribute its expertise in integrated system design to address lithium-battery safety requirements. Vincent Yang, Founder and CEO of ProLogium, emphasized the importance of scalable, integrable, and verifiable solid-state batteries for widespread adoption. A senior executive at Darfon Energy Tech noted that solid-state batteries will drive a transformative shift in safety and efficiency for the energy storage market.
Additional EV sector highlights at CES included Sony and Honda’s joint venture, Sony Honda Mobility, which presented the AFEELA 1 EV, expected to begin deliveries in the US later this year. The AFEELA Prototype 2026 was also showcased, with a planned US launch as early as 2028. BMW introduced its latest artificial intelligence software and the new EV Neue Klasse model, the BMW iX3. The company also announced improvements to its BMW eDrive Charging software, reducing charging times, and confirmed that the iX3 will support charging at 400V DC stations.
