Kempower and DLL formed a partnership in late 2024 to provide customised financing solutions, reducing the upfront costs of EV charging installations throughout the UK and Europe.
Kempower, a manufacturer of DC fast EV chargers, has launched its first UK leased EV charging project by installing eight new charging points.
This project, located at a Highway Stops Retail Limited (HSRL) site in Astwick, Bedfordshire, was made possible through a flexible finance agreement with DLL, Kempower’s leasing partner and financial services provider.
The agreement with HSRL marks a UK-first for Kempower and is the inaugural project under the partnership with DLL.
Through this financing model, HSRL receives both hardware and ongoing maintenance services from Kempower, ensuring operational support alongside financial assistance.
The leasing approach allows customers to spread the cost of Kempower’s equipment and maintenance over multiple payments during a set term.
“This flexible funding model opens the door for customers like HSRL who are in the early stages of expanding their EV charging services. The agreement we have with DLL helps remove the financial risk for operators,” said Rolle Nieminen, Kempower’s head of sales for the UK and Ireland.
At the Astwick site, commissioned in February this year, four Kempower Double Satellite chargers have been installed, providing eight CCS2 connection points. These chargers are supported by two Kempower Power Units - modular, rack-style converter cabinets that deliver up to 1,200kW of charging power in 25kW increments - supplying up to 400kW to two connected EVs.
Kempower, headquartered in Finland and operating globally, recently deployed its hardware in a major rollout across Coles supermarkets in Australia.
With primary manufacturing in Lahti, Finland, Kempower also has a North American headquarters and manufacturing facility in Durham, North Carolina.
Nearby, in San Bernardino, California, Kempower’s first US megawatt charging system (MCS) has been deployed by EV Realty for heavy-duty truck charging.
