Central Bedfordshire Council has approved the 21MW Lowfield Solar Farm, a 47-hectare project developed by Renewable Connections in partnership with European Energy’s UK subsidiary. Submitted in January 2025, the application received a positive officer recommendation, was approved by committee earlier this year, and was ratified this week.

The project features a community benefit package of approximately £42,000 and expands Renewable Connections’ UK portfolio, which this year also secured consents for a solar-plus-storage project in Yorkshire and BESS projects in Oxfordshire and Somerset. Company leaders noted that ongoing engagement with local stakeholders influenced the final design, ensuring both environmental and community benefits.

This approval reflects ongoing growth in UK solar deployment. Industry data highlighted with the consent shows utility-scale ground-mount capacity exceeding 14GW in 2025, with over 2GW added in the first nine months of the year.
