Tenbury High Ormiston Academy (THOA) has taken a significant step in inspiring the next generation of performers with the launch of its state-of-the-art performing arts centre.
This month, the academy celebrated the grand opening of its new facility with students, staff, and the local community. The centre provides a dedicated space for arts and music, offering extra drama and music classrooms, along with a practice room, to enrich the academy’s broad curriculum and extracurricular programs.
The launch event featured stellar performances by eight talented students, including drumming, piano, and a full choir performance, impressing family and friends. In a heartfelt tribute, the building was named after Robert Robinson, a former governor of THOA who dedicated five years to championing music and creative arts for young people.
The new building is a milestone not just for its creative opportunities but also for its environmental impact. Fully powered by advanced solar technology, the centre significantly reduces the school’s reliance on fossil fuels, aligning with the academy’s journey toward sustainability and net-zero emissions.
Vicki Dean, Principal of THOA, expressed her pride in the new facility:
“This new space is a great investment for our academy’s future, both in providing additional classrooms for our students to explore their creative passions and as a key step toward reaching net zero. It was wonderful to welcome our community to celebrate the opening and highlight the importance of arts in a balanced and varied curriculum.”
Dean continued:
“At Tenbury, we are deeply committed to creating the best opportunities for all learners. This building is a testament to that commitment, and we’re excited to see the positive impact it will have. We’re confident we have some future stars among us and look forward to watching their journeys unfold.”
With its blend of exceptional facilities and environmental innovation, the new performing arts centre is set to be a cornerstone of creativity and sustainability for years to come.
