Grant for Electric Vehicle (EV) Chargepoint Installation
Eligible state-funded schools and education institutions can benefit from a grant to support the cost of purchasing, installing, and maintaining electric vehicle chargepoints.
Summary
This grant provides financial support for installing EV chargepoint sockets at your institution’s site(s). Key details include:
- 75% off the cost of purchasing and installing chargepoints.
- Up to a maximum of:
- £2,500 per socket
- 40 sockets across all sites, including any previous applications made through the Workplace Charging Scheme.
- Successful applicants receive a voucher valid for 180 days from the issue date. Installations must be completed within this timeframe.
- Installations must be carried out by an authorised installer using eligible commercial chargepoints.
Eligibility
The grant is open to state-funded schools and education institutions. Independent schools may also apply under the Workplace Charging Scheme.
Key Requirements:
- Must be located in England, Wales, Scotland, or Northern Ireland (Channel Islands and Isle of Man are ineligible).
- Must have an existing or future need for EV charging facilities.
- Must provide designated off-street parking facilities clearly associated with the premises (for customers, staff, visitors, etc.).
- A site survey must be completed by an installer to confirm your site can support EV charging.
- Must not have applied for funding for the same chargepoint under other schemes, such as the EV Infrastructure Grant for Staff and Fleets.
- Must have the authority to apply on behalf of your organisation.
Academy Trusts:
Academy trusts can apply for up to 40 sockets per institution within the trust.
Dates
Funding is available until 31 March 2025.
